Research Interests

Dr Wael Ghaly’s research goals are focused on Neuroendocrinology. This includes utilization of genomics-bioinformatics, animal physiology, fMRI, CANTAB and molecular biology studies to elucidate the role of new molecules important in energy homeostasis. He is also interested in translational/clinical investigations focus mainly on the role of metabolically important hormones, including leptin, irisin and adiponectin as well as their downstream effectors, on energy homeostasis and metabolic abnormalities. His interests span the entire spectrum from animal experiments and molecular biology, through observational studies, to physiology and pharmacokinetic interventional proof of concept clinical trials in humans on new therapeutic agents important in the treatment of serious metabolic disorders.

Administrative roles

Dr Wael Amer has held several administrative roles during his career, he is the coordinator for research committee at Basic Medical sciences. This committee is responsible of designing the future research projects.

Dr Ghaly also played the role of learning management system coordinator to help establishing technology based learning environment for medical and Dental students.
