Assistant Professor

Faculty of Engineering

Dr. Alaa Adam graduated in Sohag University (2006). In 2011, he received the MSc degree from Sohag University with a thesis titled “Studies on Some Physical Properties of Bismuth Selenide Compound Doped with Antimony Element”. Two research articles were published in highly impacted international journals from the master thesis results. Dr. Alaa Adam finished PhD thesis under the title “Thermoelectrical Bi2Se3-Bi2Te3 Thin Films” from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2016 in the framework of an Erasmus Mundus international scholarship, grant agreement no. 2011-4051/002-001-EMA2, supported by the European Commission under the project MEDASTAR (Mediterranean Area for Science, Technology and Research). He has published 30 articles in highly impacted international journals and attended 10 international conferences. He is the author of two chapters in books published by Springer. He worked as an Assistant professor and Senior lecturer in the National University of Science and Technology, Moscow, Russia, from 2016 to 2018, throughout an open international grant competition (№ К4-2016-060). He supervised one master thesis and one PhD thesis. He has more than 13 years teaching experience (undergraduates and postgraduate courses). He taught different subjects starting from the preparatory year, passing through the undergraduate program (in both mainstream and credit hour systems). He attended different courses in teaching, learning and electronic learning. Dr. Alaa Attended two intensive schools on conservation science, funded by the European Commission, in Seville, Spain and in Izmit, Turkey, 2014. Participated in scientific projects such as “Hybrid Materials for Optical Applications”, supported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, 2015-2017 and Egypt-India Scientific Cooperation Program under the Title “Hybridization of Flexible Thermoelectric and Piezoelectric Devices for Energy Harvesting”, supported by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt 2019. Awarded Sohag University encouragement award for scientific research for 2019.

Administrative roles

Based on my experience (inside and outside Egypt) I am doing my best to help in the wider  issues of the University, Faculty/Research Institute/academic unit. For example:

1- Participated in writing the research plan of the faculty of engineering, KSIU.

2- Set-up the physics lab in the university for student of different faculties: Engineering,

Technological industries, Basic science, and Agriculture.

3- Helped the quality of assurance committee in some reports.

4- Helped in the examination of apparatus exported to the KSIU university.

5- Made contacts with international research group to collaborate in scientific research.

6- Intending to participate in all kinds of activities in KSIU university.
